Who We Are

Ann Tiao, Ph.D.  •  President

Ann's research about equality and access to higher education and her passion for helping all students achieve their goals led to the founding of the Center for Future Thinking.  Her dissertation, “Access and Equality – It’s NOT All About the Numbers: An Exploratory Study of Asian Pacific American Aspirations for Academic Careers,” is a qualitative study conducted at two higher education institutions to understand the factors that influence Asian American aspirations for graduate school and faculty positions, especially in the humanities and social sciences.   While completing her doctorate, Ann taught courses including Contemporary Issues in Higher Education, Public Policy in Higher Education, and more at the University of Pennsylvania.  Ann also holds an M.S. in Statistics from Texas A & M and received her B.A. in statistics cum laude from Kansas State University.

Patricia Louison, Ed.D.  •  Vice-President

Patricia shares Ann's drive to assist students from all backgrounds prepare for and attend the college or university that will be the best fit for them.   In her current role as Director of Undergraduate Studies at Temple University's College of Education, she counsels students about academic policies, programs, and options, and assists students in the development of meaningful educational plans.   She helps students as they develop greater responsibility for their educational goals, evaluate options, and transition to life at college.   Patricia's dissertation, "Sensemakers, Strategyshapers and Saboteurs: An Analysis of The Process of Planting, Watering, Harvesting and Up-rooting the Seeds of Transformational Change," explores the impact of the leaders behind change.  Patricia has taught at The College of New Jersey and at the University of Pennsylvania.   She also holds an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania and an A.B. in Africana Studies from Cornell University.
